Fremantle Rowing Club is one of Western Australia’s oldest and most established rowing clubs, founded in 1886 and located on the Swan River in East Fremantle. The Club is a vibrant, inclusive and competitive community that supports athletes across all ages and abilities, from learn-to-row participants through to state and national representatives.
With a strong focus on developing people through sport, Fremantle Rowing Club strives to provide high-quality coaching, facilities and programs that enable athletes to achieve personal excellence while fostering a positive, team-oriented culture.

Head Coach

Fremantle Rowing Club is seeking a Head Coach to play a central leadership role in fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-quality, development-focused rowing environment across all levels of the club.

Casual Rowing Coaches

Fremantle Rowing Club is seeking expressions of interest from skilled, reliable, and motivated casual rowing coaches to form a pool of coaches for the 2026 pennant season (27 April – 12 September 2026).

We require coaches for early morning or evening coaching sessions that will fit around your study or work commitments, with multiple sessions per week available.

As a rowing coach at FRC you will:

  • Bring experience in rowing and coaching, a strong technical focus, and a passion for developing athletes of all skill levels.
  • Guide junior, senior or masters athletes through inclusive, engaging training sessions on the water, aligned with the program set by the Club coach.
  • Commit to all assigned training sessions and regattas.
  • Assist with the operational aspects of the rowing program.
  • Promote a positive, respectful, and inclusive environment that values teamwork, resilience, empathy, and personal growth.
  • Uphold high safety standards and best coaching practices while delivering effective training sessions.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with athletes and parents where applicable.

About you

You will need:

  • Rowing Australia, Level 1 Coach Accreditation or higher
  • Marine recreational skippers ticket
  • Level 1 First Aid Certificate, including CPR, or ability to acquire
  • A current Working with Children Check and Police Check, or ability to acquire
  • Commitment to the requirements of Sport Integrity Australia’s National Integrity Framework.

About us

Fremantle Rowing Club meets the Sporting Organisations Award (2025) for casual staff; each session will be a minimum of 2 hours. Potential sessions include:

  • Mon-Fri 5:15-7:15am (on water)
  • Tues-Fri 4-6pm (on water)
  • Tues, Thurs 6-8pm (indoor rowing)
  • 6-8am or 8:30-10:30am Saturdays (on water)
